APML lawmakers call on Musharraf

The two legislators of former president General Pervez Musharraf finally had a glimpse of their leader on Saturday for hardly 20 to 25 minutes at his sprawling Chak Shehzad farmhouse after he was freed from seven months of house arrest. The brief meeting was held with the former president after the MNA and MPA along with a few other people underwent tight security check spanning over an hour.
The sources who declined to be named said the former general, who is facing life time ban from contesting elections, was extended an invitation by his party MNA to contest elections from Chitral to which he just smiled showing gratitude for the people of Chitral.
"I couldn't forget the love and support of my brethren in northern areas especially Chitralis for standing beside me like a solid rock in these testing times...I'm so grateful and I count myself as I also belong to Chitral," the sources quoted the general as saying.
The sources also said the general was also briefed by his party MPA about the ongoing recounting saga between his rival candidate of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Sardar Hussain, to which the general advised him to 'hire a best lawyer for the case and fight to the end'.
The 70-year-old general who once wielded immense power but suffered multiple humiliations since his return from self-exile, highly credible sources maintained sounded in 'excellent mood, fully determined and ready to face all the challenges with grace and dignity'.
The sources said that the former president repeatedly mentioned the love of Chitralis with him at a time when not only did few people turned out to welcome him home on his return to a country he had vowed to save but he was also banned from standing in the country's general election.
When contacted, MPA Ghulam Muhammad said the general had promised to visit Chitral if his security did not become an obstacle as he was currently facing life threats from the outlawed militant outfits.
The MPA said the meeting was held in a very cordial environment as the general who is currently meeting only with his close family friends and relatives preferred to spare some time for his party lawmakers.
When asked about his response towards the people of Chitral who voted despite knowing his party had no future, the MPA said: "How can I describe his feelings, you know he is just madly in love with the people of Chitral and so excited, saying I consider Chitral as my second home".
