Activists of Difa-e-Pakistan Council took out a rally to protest against the US drone strikes, here on Sunday. The rally was led by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-S) Chief Maulana Samiul Haq. The participants were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the US drone strikes. The protestors demanded of the government to immediately stop Nato supplies through Pakistan.
Talking to reporters, Maulana Samiul Haq said that the country was confronting both internal and external threats and challenges. He alleged that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his visit to the US didn't raise the issue of drone attacks and Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
He said that Pakistan had lost $100 billion in term of damages besides huge losses of civilian lives in the so-called war against terrorism. Haq was of the view that Dr Shakeel Afridi was a traitor and the US was trying to get him released.
The protestors accused the government of releasing former president Pervez Musharraf on the US's demand. They vowed to support Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in blocking Nato supplies, if the US drone strikes were not stopped. The demonstrators demanded of the government to revisit its ties with the US.
