Nasir-ud-Din Haqqani, eldest son of Jalal-ud-din Haqqani of Haqqani Network and commonly known as doctor in Jihadi circles, was gunned down by unidentified gunmen in mysterious circumstances in the limits of Bhara Kahu police station on Sunday night, it was learnt. Sources in Islamabad police and family friends of Jalal-ud-Din Haqqani told Business Recorder that Nasir-ud-Din, 40, was shot dead by unknown assailants on Simly Dam Road in the outskirts of Islamabad when he was on his way back to home in a black land cruiser (No 5733).
No official of the Islamabad Police was ready to confirm the incident. However, the sources claimed that Nasir-ud-Din was rushed to Poly Clinic Hospital for medical treatment after the incident. Another person namely Farooq was also injured in the firing incident, the sources said.
The Bhara Kahu police have registered an FIR of attack on Farooq on the complaint of one, Habib, a resident of Bhara Kahu. The sources said that Nasir-ud-Din's body was sent to Miranshah for burial. Haqqani Network has been blamed for deadly attacks on US forces in Afghanistan and Indian Embassy in Kabul.
