Security plan for 9th and 10th of Muharram has been finalised by the provincial administration. As per the plan, leading routes of the main procession would be banned for public use and as many as 15,000 police personnel and 763 traffic wardens would be on duty to streamline the flow of procession. Aerial surveillance of the main procession route is also part of the security plan, said sources.
According to the security plan, those intended to participate the main procession will only be allowed to get through Mochi gate. Every participant in the procession would be searched at four different places before his entry to the central procession. Also, the security vans would be accompanied to the main procession, bearing hidden cameras to record every moment of the day. A total of 280 cameras have been installed in the city to control law and order. Further, barbed of wires would be laid down in and around the leading routes of the main procession.
