Sindh Governor, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan has lauded the role of the United Nations and its specialised agencies such as UNICEF, UNESCO etc for services to the humanity. He was talking to United Nations' Resident Co-ordinator Pakistan, Timo Pakkala, who called on him at the Governor House here on Wednesday.
The governor was of the view that there is a need to fully apprise the people of the services rendered by the United Nations and its specialised agencies for the betterment of the humanity. He also emphasised the significance of the media co-ordination in this regard.
Timo Pakkala informed that some 19 specialised agencies of the United Nations are working in the province of Sindh in co-ordination with the UNICEF. He said that the desire of all of them is to provide maximum possible relief to the masses in various sectors. Timo Pakkala stated that work is being undertaken on priority basis for the eradication of polio.
