Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Maulan Sherani has said that the representatives of CII should be considered equal to the Parliamentarians. Talking to media persons here on Wednesday on the occasion of accomplishment of his tenure, the Chairman of the CII demanded that its representatives should be given equal status to the parliamentarians.
He said the CII and parliament are both related to the legislation and it should be considered equal to the law ministry. He said that that the council considers, administers and represents all the religious affairs. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed his consent over Maulana Sherani's proposal to make the post of CII chairman equivalent to that of the Speaker National Assembly or Chairman Senate.
