9th Muharram processions taken out amid tight security

The mourning processions of 9th Muharrram were taken out in different parts of Peshawar amid tight security arrangements on Thursday. The main 'Alam' procession was brought out from Hussainia Hall on main Saddar Road in morning and after marching through traditional routes culminated at same location in afternoon.
Over 10 and 12 small and large processions were also taken out in various parts of the city which passed through designated routes and ended peacefully. Hundreds of mourners also recited Nauha. A large number of women and children also joined the mourning processions. Strict security steps were taken for protection of the mourning processions as city was completely sealed off. Concrete blocks and hurdles were placed on routes heading towards the Imambagahs and processions.
As many as 5,000 and 6,000 personnel of police and law enforcement agencies were deployed at entry and exit points of all processions. The walk through gates also installed at the Imabargahs. All mourning processions monitored by close circuit TV cameras, and a command post also established in main Kohati Gate for this purpose. The vehicular traffic was completed suspended on the GT Road and main sadder areas, and entry of outsiders and Afghan refugees strictly prohibited. The services of mobile phones also suspended in Peshawar, Hangu, Kohat, DIKhan, due to avoid any untoward incident on the occasion.
