Curfew being lifted today: Nisar

Government has decided to lift the curfew from violence-hit Rawalpindi on Monday morning. According to Interior Ministry, the curfew will be lifted after 6am Monday until further orders. All the markets will re-open today (Monday). However, it added that the security forces will continue to stay in the affected parts of the city to maintain peace. The government had earlier announced to relax the curfew from 7:30 PM till 12 midnight.
He said the situation was improving in the country after the unfortunate Rawalpindi incident occurred on Friday.
The Minister said negotiations were held with Ulema of all schools of thought‚ who demonstrated their prudence. He said Namaz-e-Janaza of three persons of the tragedy was offered in "an atmosphere of understanding". He said the other side also fulfilled their commitment.
He said some decisions had been made to stop recurrence of such incidents in future. He said this incident had left a scar on the peaceful situation during the first ten days of Muharram. He said there was co-ordination among the Government‚ Army‚ law enforcement agencies‚ intelligence agencies and other departments. He said explosive material and bombs were recovered at some places and damages were avoided. He said a Judicial Inquiry was being held into the incident.
