The Ulema of Wafaq-ul-Madaris Al-Arabia on Sunday said the Rawalpindi incident was a national tragedy and the entire nation would bear the consequences. In a statement after a meeting with various religious organisations, the Ulema including Maulana Muhammad Hanif Jalandhry, Maulana Zahoor Ahmed Alvi, Maulana Nazeer Ahmed Farooqui and Maulana Abdul Ghaffar said the government needs to take preventive measures rather making statements.
They warned that if the government kept giving on statements of sorrow and grief then the Ulema would not give any guarantee of peace. It also said that the administration should be dismissed forthwith and responsible should be publicly punished. The statement alleged that the incident was not accidental, rather it was pre planned.
The Ulema said the victims of the tragedy should be compensated immediately and the facts should be brought before the public and justice should be done. The statement also expressed heartfelt sympathies with the families of the victims.
They said innocent people were killed and properties of worth billions of rupees were destroyed. They said ambulances and rescue officials were not allowed to go to the tragedy site which further worsened the situation.
