The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis has settled 1,802 out of total 2,028 complaints of Pakistani expatriates regarding disputes of their immovable properties in Pakistan during the last 10 years. "Out of the total 2,028 complaints, the authorities managed to settle some 1,802 complaints while 226 are under process," Ministry sources said on Sunday.
The sources said out of the settled property cases, 1,499 were got vacated and handed over to the lawful owners, while 303 were closed due to non-pursuance by the complainants.
With regard to arrangements made by the government for protection of immovable properties and other belongings of Overseas Pakistanis in the country, they said an illegal dispossession Act No XI of 2005 was promulgated. Under the act, an aggrieved person can file a complaint in a sessions court for speedy trial and decision.
They said Overseas Pakistan Foundation (OPF) also pursued matters of expatriate Pakistanis for speedy disposal.
