At least four gangsters were killed during separate encounters jointly conducted by Rangers and police in Lyari area at wee hours on Sunday. Police said that four criminals were gunned down in crossfire between criminals and law enforcement agencies in different parts of Lyari. The first encounter took place at Ahmed Shah Bukhari Road in the limits of Baghdadi police station in which LEAs killed two notorious gangsters named Hakeem, 27, son of Usman and Umair, son of Abdul Sattar, 30.
The bodies were moved to Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities. Sources said that criminals belonged to Baba Ladla group.
In another raid near Lyari General Hospital, Chakiwara police limits, LEAs killed two gangsters after brief encounter. They were later identified as 35-year-old Bashir Ahmed, son of Nazir Ahmed and 30-year-old Mohsin, son of Shafi. Sources said that both gangsters belonged to Faisal Pathan group.
Police claimed that the four criminals were wanted in several cases including murder, kidnapping for ransom, extortion and other criminal activities.
