At least three people including two minors were killed and three others injured in explosion inside a house in Neelum Colony area of Clifton, in the limits of Boat Basin police station on Sunday. Initially reports suggested it was cylinder explosion but later on police suspected that the blast occurred due to some other reasons.
Police said that three people including a boy and his sister were killed in explosion. The victims were identified as 3-year-old Chandni, daughter of Sajid Hussain, 8-year-old Saghir son of Sajid Hussian and 55-year-old Ghulam Haider, son of Khuda Baksh. Ghulam Haider was the grandfather of the minors.
Police said that Ghulam Haider was scrap dealer and had made a godown inside his house. The blast occurred in the godown as he might have kept some explosive scrap in it.
A Rickshaw was passing through outside the house when explosion occurred as a result three passengers who were identified as Adnan son Sabir Hussain, Naseem, Samina and Mariam also sustained injuries. The bodies and injured were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
