At least seven persons including two policemen were killed in separate incidents of violence at various parts of the metropolis here on Monday. According to SHO Nazimabad Ahsan, policemen had been targeted when they tried to intercept pillion riders during snap checking near Nadira Hotel located in Nazimabad No 2. Resultantly, both armed men opened indiscriminate gunshots on them, leaving three cops in a pool of blood.
Moreover, he said that two constables succumbed to their injuries on the spot while sub-inspector was found in critical condition. He said that deceased police constables were identified as Rahat, 40 and Mohammad Siddiq, 50 while injured sub-inspector was known as Mir Mohammad. The deceased and injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors declared the condition of Mir critical.
Following the said incident, heavy contingent of police and Rangers rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. In another incident, two bullet-riddled bodies were recovered from Qayamkhani Colony located at Baldia Town area. Police said that both victims were kidnapped and then murdered after torture and added that deceased were identified as Shah Bakht and Akbar Khan. Police said that motive behind the incident was yet to be ascertained. No case was registered till filing of this report.
A man namely Raizuddin alias Ballu, 40, was shot dead near Northern Bypass at Surjani Town area. Police said that deceased was said to be affiliated with a political party and also had criminal records. They suspected that he might have been killed over the said reason. No case was registered till filing of this report. Two more persons were gunned down in separate firing incidents took place at Altaf Nagar, Orangi Town and Eidu Lane, Lyari. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and Civil Hospital Karachi, respectively. Police said that identities of both victims could not be ascertained.
