Smooth flow of traffic: district administration directed to take measures

Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shehzad Arbab on Tuesday directed district administration to take concrete measures to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city by removing encroachment and by constructing emergency side slip road. Presiding over a high-level meeting here, the Chief Secretary expressed concern over traffic mess on University Road, especially during peak hours and asked commissioner Peshawar division to chalk out comprehensive traffic plan for uninterrupted traffic.
He asked them to deploy 120 officials of car lifting squad to take immediate action against violators of traffic rules and also create awareness among the motorists, besides training the traffic wardens. The meeting was attended by Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Peshawar division, SSP traffic, Administer Municipal Corporation, Director PDA and Pesco chief.
The chief secretary was briefed on new traffic plan and measures taken by the district administration regarding encroachment. It was decided in the meeting that special emergency side slip roads would be constructed at five points on University Road to ensure smooth flow of traffic. Grand operation against encroachment would be taken and violators would be sent to jail under 3MPO. All kind of construction that is affecting the traffic flow would be demolished, the meeting decided. The meeting decided to install cameras at main points to monitor traffic flow and role of traffic wardens.
