On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the contract of as many as 97 nurses of Lahore General Hospital (LGH) working on ad hoc basis has been extended. Punjab Health Department has also issued a notification in this regard.
The Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) and Lahore General Hospital (LGH) Principal Professor Anjum Habib Vohra said on Tuesday that those nurses whose contracts had been extended were recruited in 2011 so as to effectively control dengue. He said those nurses had been actively playing their role in the dengue eradication drive, adding they were engaged in spreading awareness among public about preventing measures against dengue sensitising them through door to door campaign. The Principal said that awareness about importance of cleanliness should not be a phenomenon of some days rather it is a lifestyle, which must be adopted throughout the life.
