A delegation led by President, MasterCard Company Middle East and Africa, Michael Miebach met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Thursday. Matters regarding introduction of MasterCard for improving performance of various sectors in Punjab were discussed on the occasion.
Talking to the delegation, the Chief Minister said Punjab government was following the policy of transparency, adding in that regard solid measures had been taken for promotion of good governance in the province. He said efficiency of government departments and service delivery system could be improved through introduction of the MasterCard, adding Punjab government would extend all out co-operation to MasterCard Company in introducing MasterCard.
He said health insurance scheme was being launched for providing quality health services to the poor masses and MasterCard could be helpful in that scheme. He said importance of modern MasterCard for the simplification of the process of recovery of taxes was established.
The Chief Minister directed to devise a roadmap for the promotion of collaboration between Punjab government and MasterCard Company and setting up of a joint committee for that purpose. President MasterCard Company Middle East and Africa Michael Miebach said his company wanted to cooperate with Punjab government for improving efficiency of provincial institutions. He said matters relating to launching of the MasterCard were being settled with Bank of Punjab speedily. He said MasterCard had been introduced in various countries of the world for simplifying the process of recovery of taxes and improving performance of government departments due to which better services were now available to the masses.
