Taiwan stocks rose 0.34 percent on Friday morning, with most major sub-indexes seeing gains despite a net weekly loss for the overall market. As of 0210 GMT, the main TAIEX index was up 27.31 points at 8126.76, largely in line with other regional and global bourses. Construction stocks rose 0.64 percent, while computers and peripheral equipment gained 0.91 percent.
The banks and insurance and electronics sub-indexes also rose by 0.46 and 0.34 percent, respectively. Autos was the lone laggard among major sub-indexes, rising only 0.02 percent.
The overall market has fallen 0.44 percent since Monday. The Taiwan dollar was up T$0.06 to stand at T$29.57 to the US dollar.
