The Election Commission on Monday de-notified Sumaira Malik as Member National Assembly from constituency NA-69 Khushab, for possessing a fake degree. According to a notification issued here by ECP, Sumaira Malik shall be deemed to be never declared elected MNA from constituency NA-69 during the general elections 2008 and 2013 respectively.
A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on October 28, had disqualified Sumaira Malik under Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution and ruled that she would not be entitled to contest future elections.
