PTI MPA forces Pesco, police to release thieves

PTI MPA Fazal Elahi and his armed men forcibly released six power thieves from the custody of the staff of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) and Police. According to a spokesman of PESCO, the staff and Pesco police were busy in routine checking and removing hooks (Kunda) and recovery of arrears from defaulters.
During the campaign Pesco Police arrested six persons on power theft charges and when Pesco Police taking them to police station Peshawar, MPA Fazli Elahi along with armed men intercepted them and released the arrested persons from the police custody forcibly.
They manhandled Pesco employees Liaqat Hussain, Hikmataullah, Line Superintends while Lineman Hidat Ullah was severely injured. FIR has been lodged of the incident in Police station Pashtakhara.
Both federal and provincial governments have been informed of the incident for necessary action.
On the other hand Hydro Electric Labour Union reacted on the incident and vowed not to work until they will not be provided protection. In this connection a protest will also be observed at Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday.
