Pakistan receives over $101 million foreign aid in October

Pakistan received foreign assistance of over $101 million in the month of October of the current fiscal including $83.99 million from multilateral donors and $17.06 million from bilaterals, it is learnt. The country has received a total of over $713.10 million foreign assistance in the current fiscal year from multilateral and bilateral donors. The amount does not include the $540 million disbursed by International Monetary Fund (IMF) under the 4 September approved $6.64 billion Enhanced Fund Facility.
The government has budgeted foreign assistance of $5.74 billion in 2013-14 including grants of $651.12 million and loans of $5.09 billion. China is expected to be the largest single donor to Pakistan with a budgeted inflow of $1,365.49 million. The country received $11.41 million in the month of October while a total of $108.93 million has so far been received from China in the current fiscal year, official sources revealed to Business Recorder.
Asian Development Bank (ADB) emerged as the largest single multilateral lender with disbursement of $38.97 million in the last month, however the country received a total of $131 million from the Bank so far in the current fiscal year. International Development Association (IDA) disbursed $36.84 million last month while a total of $96.30 million was disbursed in the current year; and International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) released $3.11 million in October while a total of $22.52 million was released to date in the current year.
Islamic Development Bank (IDB) disbursed $2.57 million in October and a total of $54.53 million in the current year so far, USA released $0.87 million in October and $23.74 million to date in the current fiscal year, Saudi Arabia disbursed $1.73 million in the current year, however no amount was released last month, Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec) disbursed $13.04 million in the current financial year while no disbursement was made in October, Japan released $3.39 million in October while a total of $17.74 million was disbursed in the current fiscal year so far. The country has not received any amount from Turkey, Australia, UNDP, Canada, Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI) and Bond Holder under the head of grant or loan during this period.
