The Lahore High Court on Tuesday allowed an application for restoration of proceedings in a petition seeking disqualification of a former PML-N MPA Shamsa Yousaf filed by her former husband. The petition was earlier dismissed for non-prosecution. The petitioner's counsel argued that he failed to appear before the court as he did not get the notice and the court had dismissed the petition for non-prosecution. He, therefore, prayed to the court to restore proceedings of the petition.
The court allowed the pray and directed the office to fix hearing of the petition in December. The petitioner Gohar Sarfraz Qureshi contended that Shamsa alleged that the lady was already married at the time their nikkah. The petitioner, therefore, prayed to the court to invoke the provisions of Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution declare the MPA disqualified being a dishonest person.
