Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to officially block the Nato supply route, as it cannot guarantee safety of Nato containers. He was talking to media at the residence of PTI Lahore President Aleem Khan here on Tuesday. He said the KPK Chief Minister had conveyed the decision to the Federal government through a letter.
He also said under the Constitution, it is the Federal government's duty of safeguarding the interests of the provincial government and defending it from any foreign aggression, as it cannot approach United Nations or shoot down the drones. To a question on Hangu drone strike FIR, Imran said after the completion of investigation by the KPK Police, names would be nominated in the FIR; further progress on the matter would be made public in a press conference on November 27 (today). "In this connection, if needed, the option of Interpol is available to us," he added.
He reiterated that there will be no peace in the country till the drone attacks are stopped. He told the median men that before the general elections both the PML-N and PTI made pledges to the people, but the PML-N had not fulfilled them, while PTI was doing so by waging a struggle against corruption. To another question, he said his petition against the appointment of NAB Chairman is already in the Supreme Court. He stated that the appointment of a controversial person indicates that there is a 'deal' (between the PML-N and PPP) "How can such a person carry out accountability," he questioned.
