Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 100,665 tonnes of cargo comprising 89,585 tonnes of import cargo and 11,080 tonnes of export cargo including 2,161 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 89,585 tonnes comprised of 24,184 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15,667 tonnes of general cargo; 9,238 tonnes of bulk cargo: 9,105 tonnes of DAP; 133 tonnes of sulphur and 40,496 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 11,080 tonnes comprised of 6,376 tonnes of containerised cargo; 30 tonnes of general cargo and 4,674 tonnes of cement.
As many as 2,161 containers comprising 1,599 containers import and 562 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 517 of 20's and 493 of 40's loaded while 22 of 20's and 37 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 118 of 20's and 156 of 40's loaded containers while 4 of 20's and 64 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are six ships namely Rio Charleston, MOL Dignity, Bani Yes Marika, Pontica and Harrison M carrying containers, oil tankers, bulk cargo and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There are two vessels viz Xin Nan Sha and Ital Moderna carrying containers currently at the berths.
There are four ships namely Xin Nan Sha, MT Lahore, New Life and Hony Future carrying containers, oil tanker, DAP and steel respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while two ships namely Ital Moderna and Santa Rosa carrying containers are expected to sail on Thursday.
There are two vessels viz Manas and Beech-4 carrying lables and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while five vessels viz MSC Clementina, Kota Teguh, APL Seattle, Cap Andreas and Shaker-2 carrying containers and project cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 88,169 tonnes includes 48,933 tonnes of diesel oil; 3,858 tonnes of sunflower seeds and 35,378 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 39,913 tonnes includes 8,582 tonnes of cement and 31,331 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,511 containers comprising 1,862 containers import and 1,649 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There are two ships namely CV Nysted Maersk and CV Hanjin Wilmington with containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely CV CMA CGM Rossini with containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of six vessels viz CV Hanjin Wilmington, CV CMA CGM Rossini, CV Nysted Maersk, MV Star Epsilon, MV Lito and MT Al-Salam-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, sunflower seeds and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eight ships namely CMA CGM Rossini, Beacon Sin, Elini-D, Theo Flaktos, Ocean Brother, MT Quetta, Everrich and Christos Theo carrying containers, wheat, sunflower seeds, fertiliser, furnace oil, palm oil and rice are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There are two vessels viz CV CMA CGM Rossini and MV Asorelia with containers and chemicals expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There are two ships namely CV Hany Future and MT Feng Hai-32 carrying steel and palm oil due to arrive on Wednesday, while another ship namely CV MSC Clementina with containers is due to arrive on Thursday.
As many as four vessels viz CV MSC Didem, CV Maersk Hartford, MT Stolt Spary and MT Karachi carrying containers, palm oil and furnace oil respectively are also due to arrive as per schedule.
