General Austin departs Pakistan

General Lloyd J Austin III, Commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM), departed Pakistan Wednesday after a series of meetings with senior Pakistani leaders. While here, General Austin discussed a wide range of common security issues with Defence Secretary Asif Yasin Malik, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Rashad Mahmood, and Chief of Army Staff General, Raheel Sharif, along with other senior military officials.
General Austin, in Pakistan on his second visit as CENTCOM commander, appreciated the opportunity to meet with his Pakistani counterparts. General Austin and his counterparts reaffirmed the importance of the US-Pakistani security relationship to regional stability and agreed to continue to work together to build a stronger partnership and further common objectives.-PR
