Business community urged to bolster Pakistan-China economic ties

President Mamnoon Hussain has called upon the business community of Karachi and Shanghai to play its active role in bolstering Pak-China bilateral trade volume from the current over $12 billion to $15 billion by 2015. The President said this during his meeting with the Communist Party Secretary Shanghai Hang Zheng in Shanghai on Saturday.
Professor Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Tariq Fatemi, Minister of state for foreign affairs and ambassadors of the two countries were present during the meeting. In a press release issued here, the President expressed belief that with active involvement of the businessmen and entrepreneurs from Shanghai and Karachi‚ the trade target of $15 billion set by the two countries can easily be achieved. He said that fruitful discussions with the Chinese leadership during his visit would help further deepen bilateral trade and economic co-operation. Speaking at the occasion‚ the Communist Party Secretary assured that Shanghai will contribute to the development of Pak-China Economic Corridor and bilateral trade and investment.
