Livestock & Halal food sectors: Pakistan and China need to promote cooperation: Shahbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan has a very important status in livestock sector at international level and precious foreign exchange can be earned by developing dairy and meat sectors. He said that there are vast opportunities of investment in livestock sector in Pakistan.
The Chief Minister said that Pakistan and China are bound together in strong friendly ties and there is a need to promote co-operation in livestock and Halal food sectors. He was talking to Chinese delegation associated with Halal food, livestock and carpet industry led by Chairperson CCPIT Qinghai Group Wang Xihui, here Tuesday. Provincial Ministers Chaudhry Muhammad Shafique, Dr Farrukh Javed, Bilal Yasin, Special Assistant Arshad Jutt, concerned secretaries and Chairman Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association Akhtar Nazir Khan were present on the occasion. The meeting agreed that Punjab government and the Chinese group would cooperate in promotion of Halal food and livestock sector.
The Chief Minister said that the demand for Halal food is increasing the world over and keeping in view this fact a state-of-the-art slaughter house has been set up in Lahore. He said that Pakistan can earn huge foreign exchange by exporting Halal food to China. The Chief Minister welcomed the Chinese delegation and said that a high level delegation from Punjab will participate in Halal food exhibition in Qinghai while bilateral co-operation in livestock and Halal food sectors would be promoted.
Chairperson CCPIT Qinghai Group, Wang Xihui invited Chief Minister Punjab to visit China and said that his group wants to promote co-operation with Punjab in Halal food and livestock sectors and an agreement will soon be signed. He appreciated the measures taken by Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for the development of livestock sector and said that Punjab government has set up slaughter house of international in Lahore where meat processing is carried out through modern methods.
