The legal fraternity on Tuesday observed complete strike to condemn terror attack on a complex of district and sessions courts in Islamabad. The lawyers stayed away from the court proceedings and wore black armbands to express their solidarity with bereaved families. A joint session of Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) and Lahore Bar Association through a unanimous resolution announced three-day mourning.
The meeting also decided to file constitution petitions in superior courts against the incident. The Bars also called upon government to award compensation of Rs 10 million each to the deceased's families while Rs 2.5 million each to injured persons. LHCBA President Shafqat Mehmood Chohan also cancelled all parking stickers issued to the lawyers and banned the entry of unconcerned persons into LHC premises, however, litigants, lawyers and their clerks will be exempted.
