MQM chief Altaf Hussain has called upon the followers of all religious schools of thought to get united against the barbaric terrorists, extremists to save the integrity, solidarity and enlightened, liberal and progressive civilisation of Pakistan before it is too late. The MQM would be in the forefront of this struggle, he added.
Altaf Hussain was addressing by telephone from London to a largely attended one-day Sufia-e-Kiraam Conference organised by the MQM, here on Sunday. He said the Punjab would give a verdict against the extremists, who wanted to impose their version of Sharia by force. The Sufiya-e-Kiraam Conference would drive the last nail in the coffins of extremists, who did politics in the name of religion.
He said the moot was the first step towards uniting the nation above the party politic, and would prove a milestone in the struggle for the elimination of discrimination and hatred being spread in the name of religion, beliefs and sects.
"Sufis and saints spread Islam in the Indian Sub-Continent through love, exemplary character and their love and respect for the humanity," Altaf added.
Altaf said the MQM was not playing any politics on this issue. People of Pakistan need hope, brotherhood, peace, love and harmony thus washing away the hate mongers and thereby restructuring Pakistan as envisaged by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Shair-e-Mashriq Allama Iqbal.
