The Sindh Food Department has so far distributed 8,83,000 kilogrammes wheat among drought-hit people of Tharparkar and further supply is being rushed to the area. As per details, 2,217 wheat bags were distributed in Mithi, 2,932 bags in Islamkot, 1,221 bags in Diplo, 1,859 bags in Chachro and 594 wheat bags in Nangharparkar among famine-hit people through provincial Relief Department.
Each wheat bag is weighted 100 kilogrammes. In a statement issued here, Sindh Minister for Food, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said that there was sufficient wheat available in Tharparkar procurement centres of Food Department and the department was in constant touch with provincial Relief Department. The Food Department has taken all measures to redress the problems of drought-affected people of Tharparkar, he added.
