PSDP for 2013-14: Ministry releases over Rs 191.8 billion for uplift projects

Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms has so far released a total of Rs 191.853 billion for various development projects under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for financial year 2013-14. According to latest data, the Planning Commission has released Rs 37.3 billion, which includes Rs 15.35 billion foreign aid for various projects of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission against total allocation of Rs 52.3 billion for current financial year.
The Commission also released Rs 12.1 billion including Rs 984 million foreign aid for Railways Division, out of its total allocation of Rs 30.965 billion, whereas Rs 25.61 billion including Rs 13.81 billion foreign aid has been released for National Highway Authority out of total allocation of Rs 63.038 billion for the current fiscal year.
The Commission also released Rs 38.1 billion for Wapda (Power) including Rs 20.73 billion foreign aid out of its total allocations of Rs 51.543 billion whereas, Rs 16.49 billion have been provided to Wapda (Water Sector) out of its total allocation of Rs 57.840 billion. The Commission has also released Rs 6.33 billion for Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) out of its total allocations of Rs 10 billion for the current fiscal year.
Likewise, Rs 7.6 billion have been released for Higher Education Commission (HEC) out of its total allocation of Rs 18.490 billion for the year 2013-14, whereas out of total allocations of Rs 2363.974 million earmarked for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Division while Rs 1158.1 million has been released so far.
A total of Rs 306 million has been released for National Food Security and Research Division out of its total allocation of Rs 750 million for the year. The Planning Commission has released Rs 13.3 billion against the total allocation of Rs 25.739 billion for the National Health Service Regulations and Co-ordination Division for the current fiscal year. The Commission also released Rs 679.865 million for Capital Administration and Development Division out of Rs 1505.668 million. The commission released Rs 3530.158 million for Finance Division, Rs 868.042 million for Science and Technological Research Division, Rs 126 million for Textile Industry Division and Rs 440 million for Production Division.
The Planning Commission also released Rs 2441.284 million for Interior Division and Rs 68.694 million for Narcotics Control Division. The Commission released Rs 20 million for Petroleum and Natural Resources Division. According to the data, Rs 5.3 billion including Rs 9 million foreign aid has been released out of 19.99 billion total allocation for AJK development projects, Rs 4.5 billion for Gilgit-Baltistan, whereas Rs 11.03 billion were released for SAFRON/Fata.
The Planning Commission of Pakistan has been following a proper mechanism for the release of funds and accordingly funds are being released as per the given mechanism. The Commission released 20 percent of the funds in first quarter (July-September), 20 percent in second quarter (October-December), 30 percent in third quarter (January-March) and 30 percent in fourth quarter (April-June).
