The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday arrested former chairman Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Dr Abdul Jabbar and three other officers over alleged illegal appointments and embezzlement. Sources said that the former chairman and three officers including Safdar Rehman, Sardar Irfan Ashraf and Shehzad Nawaz Cheema were arrested by an FIA team led by Additional Director Hazrat Ali during a raid.
The former Pemra chief and the three officers allegedly hired 60 personnel against 18 posts in violation of rules and regulations for personnel gains.
