The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday issued a notice to the Secretary Ministry of Inter-Provincial Co-ordination and sought a reply on a plea seeking nullification of appointment of Najam Sethi as Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board. A single-member bench of IHC comprising Justice Nooor-ul-Haq N Qureshi resumed the hearing of a plea filed by Ahmed Nawaz candidate, former secretary regional cricket board through his lawyer Abdul Razaq Rajab against the federation.
During the course of hearing, the counsel for petitioner, Abdul Razaq Rajab, apprised the court that the suppression of the PCB and dissolution of Governing Board as well as removal of the Chairman PCB was against the Constitution of Pakistan Cricket Board. He argued that the notification was issued just to appoint Najam Sethi as Chairman PCB and all the other things are engineered to appoint him on the said office.
The impugned notification was issued for the purpose of appointing Sethi as Chairman PCB against the judgement and orders passed by the High Court, he added. He alleged that due the act of the respondent the game of the cricket, which is a source of diplomacy, is suffering an irreparable loss, adding that they have made the chair of the Chairman PCB as "musical chair". The petitioner prayed the court to declare the act of the Management Committee of appointing Sethi as Chairman PCB illegal, unlawful and set aside.
