Tawfiq Husain made PBA secretary general

Tawfiq Husain has been appointed Secretary General, Pakistan Banks' Association (PBA), announcing the appointment, Shazad Dada, Chairman, PBA, said "we are delighted to have a senior and respected banker like Tawfiq Husain joined PBA as we look to further raise PBA's stature and profile in the domestic and international banking communities and to make PBA more active in representing the Pakistani banking sector on all relevant forums."
Husain brings with him over 37 years o f diverse and rich international experience in commercial and central banking, having been the Country Manager of American Express Bank in Philippines and in Pakistan, then serving for two terms as Deputy Governor, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and most recently as President and CEO, Samba Bank Ltd, Pakistan.
The PBA is the representative body of banks and DFIs in Pakistan and is increasingly involved in consultations on banking sector related policy regulation making and strategy formulation and engages with the SBP, government related regulatory bodies. It also undertakes certain other responsibilities assigned to it by the SBP.-PR
