KSEZ offers huge potential for investment: DG SBI

The DG, Sindh Board of Investment, Muhammad Riazuddin has said that the Zone provides a perfect platform with all basic infrastructure facilities. Some of the key sectors which offer huge potential for investment within the KSEZ are Non-Agro, Agro Food and Light Engineering/Manufacturing sectors. He said that the zone will provide inherent benefits of essential supporting amenities to small, medium, and large enterprises to grow and flourish in a global market place.
The DDG SBI, while charring a review meeting of Khairpur Special Economic Zone (KSEZ) on Wednesday, highlighted the importance of Waste to Energy Power Plant in KSEZ. The KSEZ project is supplemented by a dedicated waste to energy captive power plant which will ensure an uninterrupted power supply to all the enterprises within the zone. The representatives of Energy Department and PPP Unit, Government of Sindh Ali Sibtain and Niaz Shaikh have informed the forum that the RFP has been floated to attract investor for establishment of the captive power plant. They also informed that the last date of the RFP is 31st of March 2014.
Nisar Siddiqui, Director IBA Sukkur who is also a member of steering committee has said that a number of potential investors have submitted their applications for multiple business set-ups. He also said that the economic activity within this zone will uplift the lives of many in the area. He also proposed that solar energy option shall be explored at the zone.
Earlier, the Project Director Anwaar-ul-Haq gave a detailed overview to the forum on the progress of various activities of Khairpur Special Economic Zone scheme. Mohsin Syed, CEO of National Industrial Parks which is engaged as a Project Management Unit for KSEZ has said that the zone has immense potential for job creation. He said that the zone offers commercial area such as warehousing, cold storage facilities and common facilities for Dates curing.-PR
