LB polls: AG Punjab asked to seek instructions

14 Mar, 2014

The Supreme Court on Thursday issued directives to Advocate General Punjab to seek instructions from government about time that is required for a legislation to hold Local Bodies (LB) polls in the province by March 19. Appearing before a three-member bench of Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani in a matter relating to delimitation of constituencies in the province, the counsel for Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Mohammad Akram Sheikh, urged the court to authorise the federation for delimitation.
The ECP lawyer contended that LB polls have to be held in three provinces of the country so federation should be given authority for delimitation of constituencies in the provinces.
