Drought: an alarming situation for government

19 Mar, 2014

I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned towards the most "alarming situation of Tharparkar", in Sindh province. Due to drought a lot of people died and suffering diseases because they have no enough facilities available to save their lives. It is also reported that 60,000 bags of wheat had been sent by Sindh government for Thari people which are not distributed to them because of lack of money for transportation. What a shameful condition for our country where millions of rupees are spent on mega festivals but they have no money to transport vitally-needed food rations.
The drought didn't come suddenly. These people have been facing such difficulties for months. Due to lack of facilities and responsibilities, the drought engulfed the lives of 121 innocent people within few months. Around 175,000 families have migrated from the remote areas of Thar for their survival. It's our humble request to government to please make some strong and solid strategy to save the lives of these poor Thari people. Instead of unnecessary official tours they should invest money for provision of the basic needs of these people.
