Pakistan Bedwear Exporters Association (PBEA) has castigated the statement of President, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Zakaria Usman welcoming Finance Minister Ishaq Dar's decision for payment of sales tax refund.
PBEA has asked the FPCCI President to withdraw his statement. Patron-in-Chief, PBEA, Shabir Ahmed in a statement to the press issued here on Tuesday said that "payment of sales tax refund is still pending and it is only the statement of Finance Minister. You are too quick to welcome the statement. You should have waited until practically the payments of refund of sales tax are made to exporters."
He said: "As you are the President of FPCCI, your refunds are being made but other exporters are suffering," adding that PBEA members are in dire need of the funds as these are blocked since many years. Shabir requested the FPCCI President to be patient when giving the statement and "ask your member bodies whether the payments have been made and then you may give the statement."
