In celebration of World Sleep Day, Royal Philips announced its Sleep Powers initiative for 2014, aimed at encouraging increased awareness and education of the benefits of proper sleep and the important role it plays in powering everything that we do.
"Sleeping well is essential to good health and loss of quality of sleep can lead to numerous health problems such as hypertension, heart disease, stroke and diabetes," said Asad S. "The Sleep Powers initiative aims at to draw more attention to the importance of a proper night sleep and encourages better sleep as a part of a healthy lifestyle," he said.
Dr Pamela Hamilton-Stubbs, CEO at Sleep Clinic for Children and Adults, while visiting the Dow University of Health Sciences, said that there are more than 80 sleeping disorders with varied degrees of influence on the physical, psychological and social well-being of the sufferers. She said, "Sleep apnea world-wide is mostly undiagnosed and affects millions in developed and non-developed countries."-PR
