In its new mocked-up image, the terror group ISIS has threatened to behead footballers Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at the World Cup.

Both superstars are shown in a mocked-up image pinned down on the packed stadium with knife-wielding terrorist hacking at their necks. The picture, released on Telegram by a pro-ISIS group, has a chilling caption saying 'the ground will be filled with your blood'.

In another poster, a militant is shown carrying what appears to be an explosive device into a stadium. It comes with the message, 'Fifa World Cup Russia 2018 - victory will be ours'.

This is not the first time that ISIS has threatened Messi or the attack at world cup in Russia. The recent poster is the latest in a series of online threats made against this summer's showpiece football tournament and Barcelona star Messi has been the target of similar warnings over the last year.

In October last year, a poster was released by a pro-ISIS group, threatening to bring terror to FIFA World Cup scheduled to be held in Russia. The poster featured an image of Barcelona and Argentina star Messi.
