The social media app Instagram is getting a new feature that will show users the amount of time they have spent on the app.
App researcher Jane Manchun Wong found a feature hidden in the code of Android app of Instagram. The new ‘Usage Insights’ tool will let users see how much time they have spent on the app, initially reported Tech Crunch.

The news was later verified by Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom on Twitter, who said that Instagram is ‘building tools that will help the IG community know more about the time they spend on Instagram – any time should be positive and intentional’.

Moreover, at present, there are not many details about what the ‘Usage Insights’ feature will entail, in what manner will it show the amount of time spent and/or what else will it show. Recently, Google too announced that its upcoming OS, Android P will integrate numerous features for users to help manage their time spent on phones, as per Business Insider.
