Message from Chief Executive Officer, Nucon Engineers

03 Apr, 2014

Nucon Engineers feel immense pleasure in congratulating the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC&R) Society of Pakistan on arranging 21st HVAC&R Exhibition and Expo in historic city of Lahore and at landmark expo center of Pakistan.
It is also a proud privilege Freezol, a contracting company under my supervision, has the honour of doing the HVAC work of the grand expo and conference center of Lahore which has become a symbol for hospitality for events like HVAC&R exhibition disseminating knowledge to the masses and people from different industrial and business sectors.
Pakistani construction and infrastructure industry is witnessing a rapid growth, accordingly, HVAC and R building services is also growing exponentially in terms of volume. In year 2010-11, total sale of split air-conditioners was 325,600 which rose to 345,000 in the year 2011-12 and if the present government, which seemed to be very serious in resolving the energy crisis succeed, then it is expected to grow at more faster pace as it has become a necessity now instead of being luxury.
Big power project and construction ventures being planned by the public and private sectors in the country also hint towards growth in HVAC and R solutions but at the same time demand is on rise of equipment and appliances meeting the international standards and contributing towards energy conservation, consistent performance and helping turning our environment green instead of adding to the already burning issue of energy shortage and global warming.
Pakistan lacks properly trained workforce in line with the requirements of various booming industries, including heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration. A productive workforce plays a major role in attaining the potential economic growth through competitiveness and also enhances productivity. Similarly there is a dearth of institutes that could train young men to get jobs in air-conditioning industry in Pakistan as ewell as in UAE and other gulf countries.
"The current demand for skilled manpower in the country is around 5,000 professionals per annum in the services and field and the engineering design segments." "The shortage was mainly due to the fact that the supply had not kept pace with the demand of the industry, which had been witnessing an unprecedented boom in the last few years given the large number of big projects coming in the country and the sudden increase in number of malls, entertainment complexes, mega residential projects, hotels, special economic zone, manufacturing units.
"As the construction and infrastructure industry is growing rapidly, demand of air conditioning and other related services is also on the rise, plus adding to the woes is brain drain of trained manpower to the Middle East." The huge demand in the cold chain is also expected to give a boost to the refrigeration business greatly in future to further spurt the demand for manpower.
