Senator Babar Awan has said, the Constitution demands trial of all former heads of the institutions including former CJP Iftikhar Chaudhry that validated the Legal Framework Orders (LFO) in 2000 and 2007. He was talking to media persons at Lahore High Court here on Friday. Awan said former Chief Justice Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry had validated the LFO but the head of only one state institution is being tried for high treason.
Welcoming a statement of a federal minister, he endorsed that all former usurpers of the Constitution and abettors of General Pervez Musharraf (Retd) should be tries under Article 6. Criticising the release of 19 Taliban men, Awan said the government followed its predecessors and signed a third NRO with non-state elements. He claimed that fourth and the biggest NRO had also been drafted on Musharraf's trial and the guests and hosts were ready for departure and reception. The senator said trial of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was a stigma in judicial history of Pakistan and demanded hearing of review petition in Bhutto case at the earliest.
