Gandhara Hindko Board, a literary, cultural and social welfare organisation, will hold a function on April 13 to mark the death anniversary of the great Hindko mystic poet, Sain Ahmad Ali. A delegation of writers and poets will visit the shrine of the mystic located outside the Kohati Gate to place the floral wreath and offer fateha for the Sufi saint who was born in the Walled City of Peshawar in 1842 and died in year 1937. It will be followed by a gathering and Mushaira or poetry recital session at the central office of the Gandhara Hindko Board at Deans Centre.
The writers will express views on the life and poetry of the great mystic who enjoys a distinguished status in the Hindko poetry. The poets will pay poeticised tributes to Sain Baba.
It may be mentioned here that Sain Ahmad Ali poetic compositions run into thousands, but only a fraction of those could reach this time through oral traditions. Apart from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sain Baba has a considerable following in the Pothwar region where his harfis (poetic verses) are recited with great respect.
