Iqbal Mehmood made IG Sindh

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved appointment of Iqbal Mehmood as the new Insp-ector General of Sindh Police. The post had been lying vacant for the past few months. Mehmood was previously appointed as Acting chief of Sindh police after the retirement of Shahid Nadeem Baloch. The Supreme Court, while hearing the Karachi unrest case on March 21, 2014, had directed the government to appoint IG Sindh within seven days, however, the court deadline has already ended on March 29.
In yet another reshuffle, the federal government has transferred Secretary Privatisation Commission Amjad Khan and appointed him as Chief Secretary Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. He will replace Muhammad Shehzad Arbab who has been appointed as Commerce Secretary. The Establishment Division has issued notification to this effect, according to the sources.
Sources further said that the prime minister approved the promotion of five police officers in grade 21 and referred back the cases of six officers of police group for recommendation to central selection board (CSB). Similarly, two officers of custom group, Robina Athar and Tariq Ahad Nawaz have been promoted in grade 21.
