The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday issued a notice to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) in a contempt of court petition filed by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station owners. A single member bench of Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui resumed the hearing of case. During the course of hearing, Qamar Afzal, counsel for CNG stations, pleaded that the court ordered the concerned authorities to provide gas to the pumps three days a week.
The SNGPL has issued new schedule for gas supply to the stations, according to which, gas is to be supplied six hours a day, which is a sheer violation of the court orders, the counsel argued. The court directed SNGPL to submit a comprehensive report before it adjourned the proceedings of case till April 17. The IHC had declared null and void the decision of the government to suspend gas supply to CNG for an indefinite period in the Potohar region. The court also allowed all the pleas of pump owners in this regard.
