The second meeting of Advisory Committee on Gwadar EPZ was held on April 9 to advise and monitor fast tracking progress of Gwadar Export Processing Zone. The meeting was chaired by Rabiya Javeri Agha, Chairperson EPZA. She welcomed the participants of the meeting and said that a GSP plus status to Pakistan had provided tremendous opportunities of exports to Pakistan and now EPZA needed a support of stack holders to develop 1000 acre land of Gwadar EPZ for creating employment in the region and quantum jump in exports, keeping in view strategic road networks linking Pakistan with the Western China.
The participants unanimously endorsed that initially 1000 acres area earmarked as Gwadar EPZ may be developed and progress report may be given in the next meeting scheduled to be held in Gwadar. Recently Pakistan and China also agreed to establish economic corridor by setting-up different economic zones to give impetus to economic activities for achieving higher growth in years to come.
Rabiya Javeri also intimated that EPZ legal framework had embodied all viable, operational models to provide tax free facility to industrial houses and investors. Dr Sajjad, Director General Gwadar Development Authority also give presentation about the master plan of Gwadar. Commissioner Makran also assured that the mutation of land in favour of Gwadar EPZ will be settled.-PR
