The President Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (HCCI),.Gohar Ullah, in a briefing to media said that Prime Minister, Main Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, has appointed a prominent industrialist. SM.Munir as Chairman of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) as per desire of business community which will help increase exports.
He further said that sustained efforts are required to double the current exports volume. Gohar Ullah said that the exports from Hyderabad are up to the tune of $21 million though the required facilities for exporters here are lacking.
The HCCI, during the year 2012, with the collaboration of TDAP, had arranged a successful Mango Expo in Hyderabad. During the expo the exporters received orders of more than $10 million for exports of mango. We wish to hold another Mango Expo in Hyderabad during the year 2014, he said TDAP may also cooperate in holding exhibitions for handmade, embroidered goods, glass bangles and other glass products etc from Hyderabad, which is a hub of industrial and agricultural goods, such as fruits and vegetables which could be exported in large quantities, he said.
Gohar Ullah said that about 2000 industrial units are sick and needed to be restored so that these units could do export business and earn foreign exchange Gohar added that Sindh is rich in non -traditional products which with the co-operation of TDAP attract foreign markets to increase exports.
The Pakistan Consulate Generals established around the world could play important role in introducing Pakistani goods in the international markets, he hoped.
In his opinion, it is need of the hour that catalogue shows of Pakistani goods be organised in major countries in a bid to increase our exports.
