KP government focusing on preventive side of healthcare: Tarakai

Senior Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahram Khan Tarakai, has said that the government was shifting its focus on the preventive side in terms of delivery of healthcare services. Moreover, the government was making efforts to integrate immunisation services under one umbrella with the support of all the partners, he added.
Talking to a representative delegation of Unicef here on Sunday at the Civil Secretariat, the minister appreciated the efforts made by the Unicef, WHO and other partners in the health sector, saying that more co-ordinated efforts would be made in this regard in the coming days.
He lauded the role of Unicef in the social mobilisation and communications and asked the delegation to extend similar support to one of the largest health intervention "Sehat Ka Insaaf" that was extended to other districts of the province because of massive public support to the innovative health initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Unicef's deputy Director Programme, Christian Salazar, thanked the minister for owning the new health intervention that was aimed at ensuring all EPI services to the people, saying that the success of any programme remains elusive without government's commitment and determination.
Country Chief (Polio), Per Engebak, on this occasion, shared that people have benefited a lot from `Sehat Ka Insaaf' programme in terms of improved healthcare delivery system and it was for first time that immunisation services were provided to the masses at their doorsteps.
Secretary Health informed the visiting delegation that KP Health department was launching Rs22 billion integrated health programme in the province that includes EPI services, LHW programme, mother-child health under one umbrella.
