Equities registered gains on the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) amid ascending transaction volume on Monday. The LSE-25 index gained 09.53 points to close at 5400.12 against 5390.59 of Friday, while transaction volume improved to 02.213 million shares, as compared to previous volume of 2.165 million shares. According to brokers, the investors opted for buying in selective scrips that led the market in upward direction.
PSO, Shell Pakistan Limited, Attock Refinery Limited, Engro Fertilisers Limited, Pakistan Reinsurance Company Limited, Adamjee Insurance Company, Gul Ahmed Textile Mills, Fatima Fertiliser Company, SNGPL, and Lotte Pakistan Chemical registered gains while Engro Foods Limited, Nishat Mills, Limited, Nishat (Chunian) Limited, UBL, NBP, Bank Alfalah Limited, Fauji Fertiliser Company Limited, Engro Polymer and Chemicals and Faysal Bank Limited suffered losses and closed in minus column. The gainers were ahead with the losers, as out of a total of 91 companies, 24 showed strength and were closed in green zone, 17 suffered losses, while 50 companies stayed unchanged at their previous levels.
Among the gainers, PSO gained Rs 08.95, Shell Pakistan Limited was improved by Rs 05.09, Attock Refinery Limited was appreciated by Rs 3.50, while Engro Fertilisers Limited, Pakistan Reinsurance Company Limited, Adamjee Insurance Company, Gul Ahmed Textile Mills, Fatima Fertiliser Company, SNGPL, and Lotte Chemical Pakistan were up by Rs 2.55, Rs 1.67, Rs 1.44, paisa-80, paisa-57, paisa-40 and paisa-28, respectively.
On the other hand, Engro Foods Limited shed Rs 5.52; Nishat Mills, Limited was declined by Rs 3.50, Nishat (Chunian) Limited lost Rs 2.22, while UBL, NBP, Bank Alfalah Limited, Fauji Fertiliser Company Limited, Engro Polymer & Chemicals and Faysal Bank Limited were down by Rs 1.32, paisa-95, paisa-61, paisa-53, paisa-50 and paisa-23, respectively. The volume leader of the day was the Bank of Punjab with 529,000 shares followed by Lafarge Pakistan Cement with 353,500 shares.
