Treason trial: former servicemen to respect court's verdict

15 Apr, 2014

The Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Association (PESA) said on Monday that it would respect and accept court's judgement in the case of former military ruler General Pervez Musharraf (Retd). In a statement, PESA President Lieutenant General Ali Kuli Khan (Retd), SVP Vice Admiral Ahmad Tasnim (Retd), Air Marshal Masood Akhtar (Retd), Brigadier Mian Mahmud (Retd), General Secretary Brigadier Syed Masudul Hassan (Retd) and other members of the Executive Council said the PESA has full trust in the higher judiciary and considers the Supreme Court as the final arbiter of law and the Constitution in the country.
The former military officers said that holding of Musharraf's trial has been the basic demand of PESA from 'day one' of its founding. PESA stands by that basic demand, they said. According to them, piecemeal statements of some members of PESA appear to have created a wrong impression that there is some division within PESA about the trial of General Musharraf (Retd. There are no differences among members on the issue, they added.
